Part of the authenticity involved in influencer advertising is for the influencer to be honest about their experience. As Colonial Williamsburg marketing director Shaun Coleman put it, the influencer may get the rate they charge for their services or coverage of their travel expenses in exchange for their posts, but “that’s not a guarantee of good press.” Littleson, for example, researches her trips ahead of time so she can portray her experience as accurately as possible.
